Necessary product out of very unnecessary IKEA products.
That was the basic concept behind this project. An IKEA product called KALAS was chosen and ways were researched to make the product vital to the human body. There may not be a more vital body organ than the heart so an idea of making an artificial heart by using the KALAS products as material was explored. By heating the plastic it would deform and attach to each other and in a way become an organic looking object. That sparked the idea of taking these mass produced item and develop them into a small consumer products that would all have a unique look because by heating the original products it was impossible to get the same result twice.
